Pressing the hair, is just to texturize the hair. Your hair will grow at the rate it will grow. All pressing does, is make it look more presentable, easier to comb-thru. Remember, when you press your hair, you are going to use a pressing oil/grease. So if you are wearing your own natural hair in braids, you may have to use elastic bands to keep the braid from unraveling. But, if you are wearing extensions, I don't think pressing the hair is wise. Extensions have a tendency to slide off. Think of how much sheen is used to achieve a satisfactory pressed hair look. If you are using extensions, I recommend, natural hair, or a light hair texturizer. When wearing extensions, you need something to grip.
